It's a good story, but just doesn't add up. I've been reading on this, and lots of little errors that don't add up. I've been reading that the supercharger on there was last made in 1940. It's funny, the guy that wrote the story happens to be on the mailman's route. Not to say it couldn't be true, but it does seem doubtful, seems to be some funny things with the story. If they indeed buy it, hopefully they will eliminate most all of the add ons that guy did to the truck, it's just over the top, and not in a good way. Just seems funny that there has never been any mention before in any books or anything, especially if there is another remaining one of these 35 trucks. It does make for a great story though, but seems fabricated.

I agree, a little TOO Much. Chrome, color, resto mods and perhaps zero's before the decimal point!

47 ford truck sells for $800000

As the writer of the story and picture taker of the article on hotrodhotline.com , i have received a request from maryann at HRHL if i could verify the story i wrote.

I have a telephone call & an email into THE HENRY FORD museum in michigan, sent thursday nite, asking them to verify the info in the story .

If my mailman Dave Hill has perpetrated a series of lies , i will find out early next week from the research center at ford museaum, when they respond.

I also have a call into the GRAND CHAMPION of performance world 2010 who has a 41 ****** Dave was going to purchase with the money.

maryann at hotrodhotline.com most likely removed the posting link because it may be a hoax.

I agree with her and i will find out the truth next week, hopefully ford museum will respond.

Everything the guy , Dave Hill , was telling me in multiple conversations was making sense, even the fact 8 ford employees of the museum came to inspect the truck for authenticity of the 3 special options.....supercharger by McCulloch...edmunds heads....hedman? cast iron exhaust manifolds. The fact this was only one of 35 originally made, according to him.

We shall find out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, when I bought the '46 it was basically for my wife. She just wanted an old truck to drive around. I kept seeing parts that I wanted to put on the truck and kept telling her the same thing. I need to buy this set of rare factory Offy heads etc. I saw the picts on the HAMB of this supposed truck, it looks like it had all the "factory" options I that I looked at while I had the truck

47 ford truck sells for 800K

I had a conversation with the postal worker Dave Hill this morning , who owns the truck i wrote about.
I asked him how come he is not driving that brand new 2011 ford dually truck.....answer, eats too much gas....gee dave ya got $800 G thats chump change to you now.

I asked him if he had purchased the 41 ****** coupe grand champion of performance world 2010 he said he was purchasing with his new found funds..........answer LIE #1
..he has a deposit on it and is getting it in the spring while owner stores it for him. Truth...i telephoned the owner in Quebec on saturday and the car has been been sold for just under $200G to a Montreal Quebec buyer

I ask him where the ****** is from.......answer Brampton. LIE #2..CAR IS FROM QUEBEC

I ask him who is showing the car at performance world this year 2011 as the grand champion he has to return to show it......answer OH i did not know that.

Now if i could only get the Henry Ford Museum in michigan to answer my email and return my telephone call, this BAG OF LIES would be revealed as a HOAX. !!!!!!!!!!

Mike, thanks for checking further into this. It's unfortunate that somebody would say he sold his truck for that amount and all. And for what gain? None, really. Maybe it's a good thing he won't be buying that ******, he might have made it all chromed out and do-dadded like the '47.

I got a reply finaly from .....The Henry Ford..... in michigan. Basically blew this guy out of the water with never heard of him , never went to examine his truck, never offered anyone $800 G's and 2011 dually truck for 47 ford pickup truck.

I printed it all out and gave it to my mailman the perp of the story......he was still spouting bull roar about how they sold his truck to somebody as he went down street.
What posesses people to concoct ridiculous stories like this. tell ya one thing he had a lot of people fooled with his bull, myself included.

Maybe he was just trying to start his own internet urban legend. Just wanted to get his 15 minutes of fame, even if it is all based on some fabricated story. Thanks for investigating further into it, Mike. I'm sure he fooled a lot of people.

postie gets his due

Turns out my bull roar sprouting mailman had to leave town and his route here. Apparently all the other postal workers found out about the NON truth of all his stories and went postal on him and made him a thing of supreme mockery. Guess it got to the twerp perp as he took a route in another town 60 miles east.

Neither he or his $800 G wonder have been seen at any cruise nites or events since the OUTING .
