I have the orange wire and plan on doing it tonight. I am picking up the fuse blade adaptor (so I dont have to wrap the wire around the fuse) at the parts store on the way home.

Confirmed.......works same as 2006, just did my 1st mod and man was it easy...the high idle mod works great...used 2 butt connectors and about 8" piece of wire to make it easier to install...Thanks for the replies, Mike

when i did my 07 i just hooked the two wires together and high-idle is activated by depressing the e-brake. i don't have the upfitter switches and didn't see the need to add a switch. whenever i want the high-idle i just depress e-brake and trans in park

I don't think the 04's have the orange wire. The "orange" PTO was added in 05 from what I understand. I might be wrong, but the directions for the 03-04 doesn't mention it.

I read those instructions, I was trying to do it without a switch and just use the e-break like Serapis did here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1007950-high-idle-mod-a.html.

So I wonder if I take wire 322 and wire 294 and just splice them together with no switch? It should put it into high idle mode until I hit the break correct?

Yes, if you just wired them together, it would be ready for activation every time the truck is in park and running. Now, would constantly being in activation mode hurt anything, I don't know. Would I want to try? Not me.

Roadrunner, What two wires? I just ran mine to the fuse box with a 10a fuse in an unused spot.

not working for me....

I have an 05...I found what i think is the correct "orange" wire...that was in a bundle behind the Ebrake. I spliced on a piece of wire and ran it to my fuse box. I used the 20a radio fuse. I was not able to get the high idle to engage. Truck was in park, and Ebrake was on. What am I missing? Is there another orange wire I should be looking for? This one was in a bundle of probably a dozen wires. They all had black coated ends. The wrap around them said "body builders". Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure its the solid orange wire not the one with the stripe on it. I almost made that mistake last night.

It is definitely the solid orange wire. I tested with a volt meter and am getting 12v from it.
