86 F250 Curb weight answered

I looked online and got answers ALL over the place, i figured for future reference for people i would post what i honestly got at the scrap yard

Normal Cab
5.0l
4x4
3.53 or 3.55 rear end (HD full floater)
(missing some parts 50+- pounds)

No hood or front fender
Total weight was 4200lbs
Figure 150-200 for hood and fenders
Total weight of this truck would have been around 4400-4500lbs
This is just a guide that i would have liked to find if it helps 1 person i will be happy

Real reason i posted this was i was finding people saying like 6500lbs but that was always loaded with scrap and full of gas and junk - This was what a plain almost complete truck weighted

My regular cab, long bed, 4WD, SRW truck is registered at 6084 curb weight and 8600 gvw
That gives me a #2,516 capacity.

My tare weight over the scales is around 6,600 due to the Knaack Box full of tools behind the cab.

My 87 f250 rc/lb 351/c6 plow truck is a little over 5k with the plow, so I assumed 4,500-4,600 without. It's an xlt with air and not too much rot.

Anyone know the difference in weight between the regular cab and super cab trucks?

My dad said his 85 F250 4x4, reg cab long bed with the 4.9L and C6 rolled off the showroom floor at 6,600lbs. With the V8 swapped in, plow frame, bumpers and other goodies he thinks its up close to 8,000. I can say it did bottom out a flatbed tow truck once though if that means anything.

That's what I don't understand how there can be so much difference now I'm doing a complete truck that was scrap no one sitting in it no tool box no junk basicly if you just bought it and drove it to weigh it and got out of the truck.

Otherwise I really don't get how some people are getting 6500 I can't see a diesel adding over 2000lbs alone.......my engine still has to weight 500-750 lbs diesels maybe 1200-1500???

Now salvage yard may have faked the scale but I've been going for years plus it is a reputable yard (as much as any junk yard is)

Like I said, my truck is registered at 6,084.
1/2 (of one) tank of gas, no one -or thing- in it.

I'd imagine the DOT certified scales at the DMV are plenty accurate.
I do know they are checked for calibration every day.

My 87 was weighed on a certified scale. From memory it was somewhere between 5,000 and 5,100 with an old meyers 7.5' C plow setup and E-47 pump. I figure that's between 4-500 lbs. The blade itself was around 300lbs. I scrapped it and now have lighter blade on the truck since it only does driveways.

I wonder if some of the issues are from people guessing or by going off the DMV weights which can be off.

I scrapped a 97 F350 which I pulled the axles and drivetrain out of and it was around 2,800 lbs. Figure 600lbs for axles, 100 for the t-case, 150 for the E4OD and another 750 for the full dressed 460. Add another 400 for tires, drive shafts and miscellaneous items and you're up to 4,800lbs for an RC/LB F350 XL plus or minus a 100 or so pounds. That compares with my 87 F250 light duty with the semi-float rear that's around 4,500 or so +/- 100.

I go to the town transfer station at least once a week.
I go to any number of different scrapyards.
The scales are all within my varying gas tank.

State 'Weights and Measures' checks and seals any scale used in commerce here.
In fact, the town got a NEW scale house just a few months ago.

My 84 F250 4x4 usually weighs in around 4900 to 5000lbs depending on fuel and misc things left in the bed.

My 89 F250 2x4 weighs in around 5000 to 5100lbs.

This thing weighs in a 7700lbs with a empty tank and NOTHING in it.

I though it would be around 10K but helped me get better tax fees being lower weight.

Do you guys on the east coast have to declare a weight/GVW when registering?

I had my truck across the scales a month or so ago, nothing in it except a half tank or so of gas in one tank, 6300 lbs.
