Cummins Conversion Build

As a few of you know I am starting a cummins convo and since I consider a huge number of you to be amazing friends (Cept PG Ed) I thought I would post up a running thread showing my progress.

Here is the truck. I picked it up for $7000. The motor had low compression.

Here is the engine:

The Game Plan:
Engine - 2005 24v CR Cummins
The engine will be pulled apart and VP44 rods will be cryo'd and shotpeened to hold up to 1200hp. A girdle will be installed on the bottom and the pistons will be ceramic coated on the tops and teflon on the sideskirts

Fueling will be handled by dual CP3 injection pumps and EDM'd nozzles, most likely 200hp nozzles. A 150 FASS system will clean the fuel and handle the low side.

Air will start with a 66/71/14 HTT turbo. This combo will sustain 700hp. This set-up will be run until a custom twin turbo set up is built. A S400 62-64mm up top feeding a S472 or S480. Hoping to shoot for 1000+HP. A shiny blue bottom of drugs will be used as well.

Transmission:
The 5R will not hold up to the power levels of the Cummins so I will be using a 4R100 from a gas superduty. It has a 5r110 bellhousing so I can use the 6.0 tcase without modification. It is also a shorter transmission so I will not have to shorten my driveshaft and still run a crank driven fan. BTS will build the tranny. I will use a Destroked 5r110 Adapter plate with a 4R100 flexplate.

Interior:
08-10 Door panels will replace the simple looking 05 panels and get some more wood gain look. Interior is pretty much done after cleaning. Truck already has the factory sunroof and power sliding rear window.

Exterior:
08 KR mirrors will be added. Leveling kit and 35's too. The factory 18's will remain. They compliment the truck perfectly. The only other possible option will be Road Armor bumpers painted factor beige. An 08-10 tailgate will be added and the front and rear Ford Emblems will be removed and custom badges from Billetbadges.com will be done.

Photobucket Album:

Enjoy guys. Let me know what you think.

If you can see the truck and engine your fine. I had to change the album display. It was displaying a popup box and not a link.. It's fixed.

The banker lady said it books at $26,900 haha.. not sure who would pay $26,900 for this truck.. not I!

Hey, no fair! I grew up in MO (Go Miners!) and I know that you live just down the road from jtharvey. You've got a ringer on your team.

Is there something in the water up there in central MO?

Hey Andrew, What kind of a time line do you have on this project? Will it be ready for us to see at RRE? Good luck looks good so far.

The chance of completing this truck by RRE is slim. I am still saving for $3k in conversion parts and $4k for the tranny.

If I could get those parts paid for I would be pretty close. I have my air and fuel pretty much done for the cummins..

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I will get the tranny pulled outta the 6.0 and injectors outta the 5.9. They are going off to industrial injection to be checked out.

Got one more week coming up. Hoping to juggle that and make it to bean's dyno day this weekend and chase 600 hp with the 6.4.
