Excursion Radio Poping Noise
Hello All,
I have an unusual electrical issue that I am hoping you can help me figure out. I have an: 2001 Excursion Limited
6.8L Gas V10
90,720 Miles
Bone Stock no mods. stock radio/speakers/amp
For some reason it just start making this very loud cracking and popping noise through the speakers. It will only do this when the truck has the key in the off position, if the truck is running it will not do this. with the engine running everything works fine, radio/CD all other electrical devices, it only does this once you turn the engine off. It is very loud and almost sounds like it is coming through the radios amplifier, and is not static, this sounds like someone is grounding the two speaker wires across the speaker. hope this is enough info and makes sense. The only way I can get this to stop is by disconnecting the battery, turning the radio on or off, up or down does nothing.
Thanks in advance, Gene

Are you in the mode with the key off, but the radio still plays along with the power windows working, etc? And the radio cuts off when you open the door? Do the newer trucks have a accessory position for the keyswitch?
I wonder if there is a power problem with the accessory delay relay in the fuse box?
