The shiny ones are really aluminum. The painted are steel and can be chromed.

I have been looking for a steel grille so if you were looking to put an aluminum one in and the steel is in good shape let me know what you may want for it

Thanks
John

I have a 69 F100 Custom with an aluminum grille. Just had the rust removed (floor boards, door jams, and front fenders), power steering conversion, new interior, and new paint. I painted it in its original copper/orange color with a white top. Looks great except for the grille. It's straight but dull and won't buff out with aluminum polish. Is it possible or cost effective to send it out for polishing or is it better to buy a replacement. The great looking grilles I see in the galleries, are they chromed steel grilles? Thanx

\Yeah probably chromed steel grills, or you can strip the anodization off and polish it out, but you'll work your tail off keeping it looking good. Good luck on finding an NOS shell, I've been hunting for a Ranger shell for years and can't seem to grasp ahold of one. If yours is straight you may be able to find a chrome shop and they may be able to reanodize it or point you in the right direction to get it done.

That's good advice, I too would be looking for someone to re-anodize/plate that aluminum shell.

Saw a couple of aluminum ones on ebay.
Go to ebay motors type in 69 ford f100 grille
Otherwise you'll be sifting through 20,000 listings always narrow your search as much as you can.
