locking fuel and DEF cap for 2011 F350 6.7L?
#46
I emailed Stant to see if they were going to put one into production for the DEF, this is what the reply was:
Thank you for the inquiry and information. We have had several requests for a locking DEF cap. We are looking into it but at this time there are not enough vehicles on the road to justify the tooling expense to build this cap.

** * * * * * * Comments: Do you have anywhere for the submission of a new product request. I and several other owners of 2011, 2012 Ford Super Duty Diesels are trying to find a manufacturer that makes a locking DEF tank filler cap. The fuel systems, and DEF systems on the new diesels are so ultra sensitive to contamination- the concern we have isn't so much about diesel fuel theft, as it is about vandelism. These trucks could wind up needing 5-10 thousand dollars worth of repair, and fuel system parts replacement, because of something as simple as pouring DEF fluid into the fuel tank and running it. The DEF system if it were to get diesel fuel, or some other contaminant poured into it, would ultimately need to be replaced at a cost of between 2 and 3 thousand dollars. We know you have locking Fuel filler caps, for our diesel trucks, but are very much hoping to see a locking def cap in the near future. If I can be of any help please contact me and let me know.*
I'm surprised they feel that way- but hey it's their business to lose I guess. Maybe I'll pick up an OEM cap and see what my diabolical mind can come up with....
