Need help with how to replace glow plugs

I was hoping to find a step-by-step picture installation for glow plug replacement. Can you please help with this, as this is the first time for me? Can't really afford to pay someone as I had them replaced just less then 2 years a go. What would cause 2 of them to go out so quickly?

Thanks for the help...

Curious, but how did you get the diagnosis of gp failure?

couldn't find a link but it is simple.
1. remove valve covers.
2. Use eye dropper to suck oil out from around plug.
3. disconnect and use deepwell socket to remove plug.
4. Install new and replace vavle cover.

DO NOT USE AUTOLITE GLOWPLUGS. They have a bad reputation for "mushrooming" and breaking apart when removing.

When the vc is off is it obvious where the glow plugs are? I've never been under the valve covers.

Your Glow plugs will be between the injectors and rockerarms (pushrod end).

The white wires are for the glow plugs. You can see the plugs to the right of each injector plug in this pic.

Maybe this will help some more. This pic shows the boot removed from the tip of the glow plug.

Yes, you ohm the plugs at the v/c harness clip with the key off. You don't need to remove the v/c as well.

Great info ! It would be also very helpful to have list of tools (socket sizes etc) and checklist of what else to check, tighten, replace etc while under the valve covers. Also iIs a new VC gasket always needed ? Appreciate the help very much.

Going to need some universals to get those valve covers off. And patience.

It is easier to remove right side valve cover by unscrewing oil filler tube (counterclock). in the PDF below.

Check torque on Injector hold down bolts. 10 foot pounds (120 inch pounds)
Check torque on Rocket pedestals. 20 foot pounds (240 inch pounds)

Perform 50cent mod.

I would also complete the project with a beautiful Stancor GPR.Welcome to guzzle's Stancor GPR replacement Mod Web Page And switching to Rotella Synthetic motor oil 5w-40 from walmart. And a 1995 motorcraft filter from walmart. (don't forget to pick up some oil pan drain plug washers from Autozone)
And you will be ready for winter.
