Sway Bar Downlink Issue

Good Evening,

I am having difficulty with my front sway bar downlinks, they keep coming loose. I have recently replaced them for the same reason with some O'Reilly Auto Parts house brands, they seemed alright when compared to the Motorcraft replacements, they even had grease fittings which was unusual for some of the others I have seen. I have torqued them down, I have tried red locktite, the only thing I have not tried is to weld them. It is only the lower nut which keeps coming loose.

thanks,
Jeff

You should have nylock nuts on the end links.

If you can't find them, torque the links back to spec, and crunch down on the exposed threads with a pair of vise grips. That should create enough interference so they won't roll off.

I had the same problem till I swapped to Moog's, problem gone! I had some inexpensive ones on there for about a year. Loctite didn't work for me either.

I had to double nut the rear links, I can imagine the same up front.

Crazy issue. Agree with agsmv1. I also am running Moogs with zero issues. They also have a place to grease them. Been running them for 18 months or so.

Nylock nuts should cure your issues- just don't re-use 'em...

I recently swapped my worn stockers for some Dormans. The driver side routinely lost torque and would work off until finger loose. I bumped the torque up from 85 to 100, it seems to have fixed the issue so far. I would have preferred to double nut them, however I didn't have any spare hardware at the time.

FSM and Chilton's both said 85 ft/lb for the lower nut, lol.
