Search. Plenty of threads on here, but you'll have to go back a couple years.
They are a direct swap as far as length. Just need to shave the bushings to fit the hangers.
I used Ed's old set when he went taller, and took a couple hours to swap in. Highly recommend the swap, as the springs ride 10x better than the lift springs offered for this era. Thinner leafs, with more in a pack; better ride, and better flex.

Where are you guys getting these big lift springs? I saw Superlift makes 6" lift springs.
I am doing a diesel swap in a 79 and was looking for something 6-9" as well..
Well what I really want is for the rocker sills to be at my waist, and I am 6'7"..

How many of you guys with big lift's drive these trucks pretty regularly?

I had 10" on my '78 with 40's. If you're going to run 44's, I'd say a minimum of 12" of lift. 44's ain't little. That's almost FOUR FEET of tire!

This was also my daily driver for a while. It was plenty dependable. I did drop the drive shaft a couple times until I got a longer one made. (do that right away, it's embarrassing to have to pick up your drive shaft out of the road)

Definitely, this whole truck is a custom diesel swap. So I will be sure to get the right driveshaft measured for it.

Like I said though, I wanna drive this thing pretty often. Including 6 hour drives to our cabin during the summer. I want it big, but will hold back a little bit if it means it won't be as drive able.

Honestly, for a truck to be useful as a truck, I wouldn't go over 6" of lift. That means 36" or 37" tires. On a Ford, that's pretty big without getting ridiculous. Any higher and you'll wonder what the heck you thinking after a few months. The extra height gets in the way much more than you think it will.

Refering back to my previous comment. I dont see how anyone would have trouble fitting 44 under a 10" lift and the beast would still be road worthy. I don't care how high of how far if you want it on the road thats bragging rights do it your way or don't bother doing it at all because you will regret it. If you do the math 4" lift 38.5s with 3" all around and I had no rub problem. your only adding less then 3" of tire in the wheel well, so + 6 more inches of lift you will clear 44". I would just be concious of the what the tires are because the shape or a little rubber flex ends up causing inner rub. I would love to see the get up of the completed project.

I have a 6" Skyjacker lift on my 79 F350 with Dana 60's front and rear and I have had my rear driveline custom made before my lift kit was installed and I'm having a new front driveline made with a CV joint because my pinion angles are too far apart due to a non divorced transfer case so I had a binding issue.

Here's my photos just after my lift kit install. When I get my new driveline I'll post some updated photos.

I bet if you put 3 degree shims under the springs, your pinion angle would be a whole lot better. You may not even need the CV shaft. ..although it's hardly ever a bad idea to use one.

I have the shims sitting at my shop but at the last minute I decided to be a purest and go with the CV joint because my driveline is too short and I would have to have one made anyway. There is a driveline shop nearby that all the 4X4 shops go to in the state so this guy really knows his stuff.
