That stupid cold advance solenoid

How does it fail in under 1 month?! I replaced my old pump because I didn't know how many miles were on it and I was putting in new injectors as well. The cold advance didn't work on the old pump either. Put the new pump in and dang she started good with the advance working. Then this weekend I try to start it and it took 3 tries to get it to fire up and run. That's not right. Threw in my luminosity probe when the engine was warm and jumped 12v to the advance solenoid.. timing solid as a rock.. wtf?!

Anyone got an ohm reading spec for that coil? Or can measure the one on their truck so I can compare? It sparked a tiny bit when I jumped it so I suspect it's likely good. Gonna pick up some diesel fuel cleaner on my break at work today so I can let it soak in too in case it's hung up from some dirt or something, but come on.. brand new napa gold fuel filter, blew out all the injection lines when I installed it to keep everything extra clean, works great for 2-3 weeks and back to crap.

What a pain in the rear!

I have never noticed a starting difference with it working or unplugged. Some members have actually reported it started better with it unplugged.

hrmm.. well it makes it hard to time by ear lol. I guess I'll just schedule some time with my cousin to get the timing hammered down with his pulse clamp and see how it starts then. Good to hear most report no difference or easier starting without it!
