Attn Edge Owners - U happy?

Received the usb flash drive. Did the update. It changed a few things around, but it is by no means fixed or even close to "tolerable". The my fors touch is by far the worst control center I have ever used. The fact that in order to use any net type app (weather, traffic, etc) requires pairing with your phone and gives information via voice. WTF ? My 11 F150 has factory nav and the system is FAR superior to the Edge system. This ****-poor engineering will keep me from ever purchasing another Ford product with the my touch system

I have a 2011 and when I got it I traded in a 2008 I like both. I hear a lot about the my touch I upgraded it at the Dealership for free. Have not had a single problem with it at all. Drives awesome. handles awesome and most of all its fun. people having trouble with the my touch dont take the time to read the manual. I Lease so I am already looking. at the 2013 sport model with ecoboost.

let me set the record straight. I have no problems with the appearance or mechanical aspects of the vehicle. My problem is directly with the poorly designed and executed My Ford Touch system. Unless you have never used a factory touch screen system before, you simply do not understand the frustrations I have with the 11 model. This is not from a lack of reading skills or failure to understand and fully comprehend the owners manual. This is simply failure of design. Too much focus on voice controls, which for me are much more distracting than the simple, quick glance, that I have on my 11 F150. The F150 controls are quick to respond, have large and very easy to read icons, hence making this system superior to the my touch. The weather map and icons can be brought up in seconds and understood at a single glance. The backup camera is smooth operating and well placed. I cannot say any of these things about the Edge system. I love the Edge Sport, it is fast, easy on fuel, awesome looking, and rides nice. The touch system, well, sucks. I do have an appointment with my local dealer for the latest upgrade, but, unless it was completely rewritten, probably wont fix much. The major hangups: - sluggish, video camera choppy and fish-eyed, weather app is a joke, will not display sat radio info without always having to press buttons every time you start the car, climate controls are cumbersome to operate. The climate controls alone is enough to take your attention off the road long enough to run into a building. Again, not the same as other vehicles. It may be fine for many people, but not for me.
Johnmjr - perhaps you need to fully understand the issues at hand before accusing people of their reading skills.

Ford Edge 2011
All I can say about the my touch system I have in my 2011 Ford Edge is I have not had a single problem with it. I do all my temp controls on it so no reason to touch or even look at it door to door instructions has worked with no problems fan control is working fine by voice control. I am sure there are ones out there that have a glitch or 2 but I have not had any problems and enjoy using it.

well, the Tahoe is only 5 pax, too, but thanks for the reminder ... just more roomy 5 pax. ... the boys are graduating into their own rides ... momma doesn't need a big rig anymore.
With an F350 CC, an F250 single Cab, and the Jetta, we've got plenty of carry capacity.
What are typical lease terms on this thing ... prob no more than 15K/year

looking for my 25th post so I can add a sig & stop listing my vehicles :^P

Hello my Lease is different. I only need 10,000 miles. I also got one with only the reg radio no Nav because with dr to dr directions I did not need the screen plus I have reverse camera and and mytouch. If you have Nav it would make a difference. I only pay 343.00 per month using nothing down. Only start up fees had the doc fee waved had the act fee waved. .

Thanks John.
Hmm. I was hoping for considerably less than that. We've just finished a 6 yr $400/month payment on the Jetta TDI … roughly the same price as the SEL. I guess the interest rate's being so low makes buying a real player in the decision. Granted the note is twice the duration of the lease … but there are no mileage restrictions & it's owned at the end.
This will replace a '97 Tahoe with 250K miles on it. My 2000 F350 replaced a '93 C1500 in '07. The 06 Jetta replaced a 90 Escort. So, I tend to keep vehicles a little while.
I do like what I've read about this little SUV, though. Thanks, again, for the reports!

My wife has had her 11 Edge for a couple of months now and she loves it. Plenty of power and the ride and handling are superb. Only problem so far is the volume control on the steering wheel. U push up for the volume multiple times and nothing happens. Then suddenly it jumps way up in volume and is loud as heck.
Besides that, when you put it in park, it rolls forward or backward (depending on the hill) about 6 inches. Not used to that in any other automatic vehicle iv driven before.
Other than that, We love our Edge.
