Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me which PS fluid to use exactly for my '99 F150. The '99 owners manual lists Motorcraft Mercon ATF. I don't have a Ford dealer nearby so would like to use aftermarket fluid. I believe things have changed since '99, so what is available now? Is it still Mercon. Waht was Mercon V? Any help would be appreciated so I'm not using the wrong fluid. Thanks.

Either Mercon (f you have it) or Mercon V is fine.

 

Any good fluid, be it transmission fluid or power steering fluid is fine. FORD just standardized on what ever transmission fluid they were using that year so they did not have to stock power steering fluid or something else on the assembly line. You can buy MERCON V or power steering fluid at Auto Zone.
