Buying Question?? 08 Ford E-350 w/ 5.4L V8

I am buying a 2008 Ford E-350 Econoline Wagon Van with 64k on it. Does the V8 have any problems I should look for in particular??? How many miles can I expect out of a well maintained 5.4?? What is the average mileage do you get??

How many quarts does it take to change the oil???

Is the tranny reliable?? Does it need to be changed at certain intervals??

Does the rear dif fluid need to be changed at certain intervals???

The 2008 5.4L V-8 is a great engine with no serious issues.

200k miles should be easy to reach. This 1997 E-250 with a 5.4L has gone 1.2 million miles.

Million Mile Van

Fuel mileage? No idea. My 2007 F-250 with a 5.4L gets between 8-18 depending on if/what I am towing or hauling, speed and weather. Your mileage may vary.

6 quarts 5w20 and either a wix or Motor craft filter.
Do not use thinker oil or a cheaper filter!

My 08 e250 w/4.6 and 4.10 gears loaded gets 13mpg. The powertrain is good, but I had to have all ball joints and one wheel bearing replaced at 43,000 miles.

The 2V Triton engines had one issue. They spit spark plugs. Usually, a spark plug being ejected from the head can be attributed to improper spark plug installation. (You only tighten them just a little beyond finger tight).

Thanks for the help. I am also looking at a 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009. I found more when I searched the net for my price range. Will a HF diagnostic Code Reader CAN OBD II Code Reader/ EOBD Scanner - Diagnostics - Automotive & Motorcycle tell me if there is anything wrong??

Also what years did the Tritons change the Vs???

05 was the first year for the 3Vs.
They went from 260 HP to 305 or so, and they went from the 4R100 to the 5R110 TorqueShift.

Perhaps in an F-250 and F-350, but I don't think it is true for the E-250 and E-350.

Crap. I forgot we where talking about the E-series.

They got the better tranny in 05, but they still have the 2V 5.4 making around 260 HP.
