These motors aren't given enough credit. Sure they won't win many drag races but when you compare dyno charts theyhave way more low end torque then all the other ttruck v8 out there. I even compared it to charts from a 13 hemi and it makes almost 40 lb/ft more below 2500 rpm. They do love to rev but once you realize they aren't a v10 or diesel and let them do what they want to do they pull and haul amazingly. Like I showed in my pictures I've had over 11k behind her and over 7k in her and she loves every minute.

I will be starting a thread on my future plans. Major upgrades are coming around 2015/16

I just sold my 04 f250 with a 5.4 auto. It was a great truck I routinely hauled four thousand in the bed and 12'000 on a trailer at the same time for 500 mile stretches. It would give me 16 mpg towing that at 55mph.

That's impressive. The 5.4 is definitely pretty capable. Many just prefer diesels and V10s because you can haul those heavy loads and still have a ton of power (same reason I love my 468).

There is no arguing that a v10 or diesel has way more pedal left at those weights but the 5.4 still pulls fine. I drove a 05 Chevy 2500 with a 6.0 for a job I had and I can honestly say I prefer towing with a 5.4. In a drag race the 6.0 has it hands down but put 10,000 behind it and the story changes drastically

Its funny too about gas mileage. I average 11 normally but when I tow I can get as much as 14. It feels like with the VCT and how smart these computers are that they run more efficiently under load. I just need to keep my foot out of the oil pan and maybe I could do better.

pretty much, helps with ride quality while towing, takes a lot of stress off the truck suspension and rear end.

I sold it recently. Probably should have kept it, i replaced it with a f350 DRW 4x4 with a v10. I notice a big difference at the pump.

Here's my Super duty hauling frozen lobster bait. She's a little dirty as it was snowing earlier in the day. There is 3k lbs in the box and the pallets on the trailer each weigh 2600 lbs. Towed it for 500 miles averaged a little under 8mpg calculated.

My truck never does any real work.....besides pulling our 5er...... this is probably the heaviest load it's seen while I've owned it.

2 cords.

Man. So you had to stack it in there, and then have to stack it again when you get it home?

ontariofarmer, thats a nice looking truck, but if you paid for two cords you got seriously ripped off. You might be able to stretch that to 3/4 of a cord.
A cord of wood is 128 cubic feet or 4x4x8. You've got a six foot box, average three feet high and four feet wide would give 72 cubic feet of just over half a cord. Not trying to be picky but if you are buying wood by the cord you should know what your truck will hold.
