1965-66 Ford "Ranger" Console

Greetings FTE'ers -

I found a console locally that came out of a 1965 Mercury. It appears that the Mercurys have a different top cover/pad than the Fords. My question pertains to the console body itself. The console body has curved cutouts front and back for the driveshaft hump. Does the console body need to be cut down to fit the flat floor of the Ford truck? Assuming that it needs to be cut down, can someone provide factory correct dimensions for the Ford "Ranger" Console?

Thanks,
Dan M.

The console used in 1965/66 Ford F100/250 Rangers is the same as 1964/65 Falcon Sprint.

Some parts of this console have been reproduced by dearbornclassics.com.

1965/66 Mercury specific truck parts are listed in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

There is nothing listed specifically for Mercury console parts, so the console may have been installed by a previous owner.

Dan, You are talking about a custom app. I'd suggest, laying it in between the seats and see what it looks like and what is needed to make it what you want.

Not much we can offer on a one time install.

Thanks Guys. The underside of the top cover/pad has the following numbers/letters preceded by the FoMoCo logo: C4GB.5406024.AW..KZ I could not find a FoMoCo number on the console body. NumberDummy, can you decipher this number?

Thanks!

Here are a few photos of the console I have...

Ranger Console pictures by dmichalak - Photobucket

Supposedly, the console and bucket seats came out of a 1964 Mercury Comet, but the guy did not know if they were original to the car or not. I did not buy the seats since I already have a set of Mustang buckets...

Thanks Again,
Dan M.

Greetings! -

As luck would have it, there just happens to be a '64 Mercury Comet with buket seats and console for sale on eBay:

Mercury : Comet - eBay (item 260692485935 end time Nov-20-10 15:40:06 PST)

Now I don't think I will be able to bring myself to cutting the console to fit the truck!

I think if I were putting a console in a pickup, I would want it high enough to use the top as an arm rest. That would require adding tho the bottom of the console not cutting.

just saying.

Thanks for your help NumberDummy. However, I'm still perplexed...

If the console used in 1965/66 Ford F100/250 Rangers is the same as 1964/65 Ford Falcon Sprint, doesn't the Falcon have the floor "hump" for the driveshaft whereas the Ford F100/F250 does not have he "hump". Does the repro console body from dearbornclassics.com need to be mofieid for the Ford trucks?

Thank You,
Dan M.

Look at this 1964/72 truck parts catalog illustration of the 1965/66 console: Body Illustration Section 030, Page 3-lower. The console body has a definite cut-out at the rear, there is nothing shown of the front.

What does your console look like?

Hi NumberDummy -

I don't have the truck parts catalog. Can you post a copy of the referenced catalog illustration? Also, see console photos posted under reply #5 under this post.

Thanks,

Hi NumberDummy -

I hope you're recovering well and enjoying the Christmas holiday. I don't have the truck parts catalog. Can you post a copy of the referenced catalog illustration? Also, see console photos posted under reply #5 under this post.
