need a little help with winter rims
been lurking for a while and need a little input , if some one could help?
my friend has a set of rims and tires off a 98 jeep tj, and the million dollar question will the fit a 2004 escape?
from what i have seen the offset and backspace should work.
the tires mounted are lt235/75/15.
the rubber is i excellet condition as are the rims, perfect for winter at at 200 i can't complain..

Well the recommended tire size for an XLS Escape is P225-70R/15. Which your vehicle probably came with, maybe. If you have an XLT you could have 16" rims as original equipment. Either way, the tire you want to use could throw off your speedometer a little also. Now if you are going from 16" rims down to 15" rims, it will throw your speedometer off a lot.
Don't know much about Jeep rims fitting a Ford, logically is sounds like they wouldn't, but the only way to find out is try and put them on the vehicle and see how they fit.
Personaly, I would only use Ford approved rims on a Ford.
One other thing, the Escape calls for a Passenger type tire, you're going to put a Light Truck tire on it, that could be another issue.

Looks like the rims might fit, the bolt pattern is the same Jeep to Escape, but you will have to check the offset. And depending on the rims you may need lug nuts.
The OD of the tire is what effects the speed & gearing:
235-75x15 = 28.89"
225-70x15 = 27.96"
235-70x16 = 28.96"
So the stock Escape 16's are close to the Jeep tire, stock Escape 15's are an inch shorter.

Keep in mind that your old tires are probably shorter than new & nominal size vs actual size can be laughable.
