You're ok, just settle down a dash.

It's a long draw from the tank up to the carb especially if you have the original fuel pump in.

Make sure your tank is venting ok, put a squirt or two in the carb throat and try again.

It'll work just be patient!!!

Graveyard shift

Hey flattie,

I work graveyards too, and often have some time to get caught up on the forum. I also was curious about Julie's schedule cause she posts until the wee hours, but was afraid to ask. LOL

Good luck with the fuel issue. My truck's PO put a cheap electric fuel pump in addition to the mechanical pump, I believe for just that same reason. I think the truck was infrequently driven and the fuel leaked/evaporated out of the line.

I had this problem once - turned out to be two things at once for me - firstly the fuel pump needed replacing so did that but still no luck. Then I cracked off the fuel fitting at the carb, reattached and tried again - hey presto she fired right up!

It's definitely fuel related. Try pouring some gas down the carb, but not too much. You don't want to flood it. Try starting it and keep pumping the gas pedal. It may take you a few times with pouring the gas down the carb in order to get fuel in the line from the tank to the carb.

if it still won't pull gas from the tank after a couple of prime shots in the carb ,, you may be sucking air at some point in the line ,, recheck the fitting you disconected at the tank .. most likely suspect ,, pull line off fuel pump .. blow on tank fill till ya got gas at the fuel pump ... couple psi is all ya need ,,,

Be careful pouring the gas down that carb. We've all done it a thousand times, and I'll probably do it again. But I saw a guy get burned really badly doing that very thing just a few days ago. NOT TOO MUCH

Easiest way to get gas in carb I ever found was a metal squirt oil can. I have a couple of the finger pull squirt type I use exclusively for that. Just fill oil can with gas and you can direct spray directly in the carb throat and none on the outside then the remaining fuel is in the metal oil can out of harms way. You can see and control exactly how much fuel you put in carb. If you still not getting fuel after sevveral primings I would also bet on a fitting leaking air.
Good luck
Larry

Question?????

While you had the tank out did you coat it with anything on the inside?

Sometimes, there's a fine screen inside the tank at the fuel line connection. You may want to blow back into your fuel line to make sure it's not blocked.
