help took the gas tank out now it wont start
#16
I once took out a gas tank... Didn't clean or seal the inside of the tank... ended up loosening up rust and old sealer on the inside of the tank... Had to take it back out... took it to the radiator shop to have it boiled out and then had to use a tank sealer on the inside after I had them check for leaks... painted tank and re-installed... If memory serves me right I had to put a new diaphragm in the fuel pump...

LMAO... Nah actually I did one better than that. When I first tried to start up the new motor. I got in turned the key she cranked over but wouldn't start, I was thinking what the he!! its a brand new motor. I kept trying to start it for the better part of 3 hours, then I noticed I forgot to plug the coil wire into the distributor. Once I did that she started right up. I'm just glad no-one was around to watch me while I was going crazy trying to figure out why it wouldn't start...

Ahh, the old "something so easy, it's almost stupid" issue. I run into that one a lot. The only time I've ever changed points on a car was on a 74 Century that I used to own. I was really intimidated by the thought of setting the gap, but I dove in anyway and got the job done, only to get no spark. I immediately figured I set the gap wrong, so out came the new points and in went the old ones. The cap went back on and I tried again. Still no fire. Fast forward at least an hour. I've checked for spark, I've check for fuel, my blood pressure's through the roof at this point. As I leaned over the front of the car, hood open, with my hands on the radiator support, I happened to notice the ignition rotor sitting next to my hand. Oops.
