Wierd PCM issue

Any of you that saw my died and won't restart thread know that I changed my PCM. I used a 1997 PCM, and I did notice a difference in power (more power) But, with this PCM, it goes romp, romp, romp, every time I start it, hot or cold, and it will only quit romping once I give it a little throttle, then its fine. With the original PCM, it would only romp on real cold starts.

I'm confused????

Could it be a cali pcm. Could be burned for splits. You might have to get it reflashed.

A PCM from an automatic truck will do it too. I know. It needs to be reflashed for a 5 speed if you want it to be right.

It is not a cali PCM and my motor is not a cali motor.

I do not have any ICP mods at all. it does the same romp, romp with the ICP unplugged.

It is an auto PCM if that makes any difference...

Thanks guys,

BTW, this 97 PCM will not communicate with my AE, but the old PCM did

Any ideas??? It runs way to well for the PCM to be burned for splits.

Are any of the pins corroded or dirty. A bad connection on a pin or two?

Check your cigarette lighter fuse.
It powers the OBDII port.

No, I don't think so.

I'll check that, but my scanner did the same thing when this PCM was in a different truck.

This has to be it, because there are no other differences that I know of.

Thanks for the input guys!

Not sure on that Rick. Doesn't make sense to me that that would be the case but if Bill says I would believe it.

I have not heard from Bill. You haven't either?
