I just found a 97 f350 7.3 single cab long bed auto, here locally. He says it needs motor runs but needs attention and its not in the truck right now.

hes asking $2500.

But i want the damn wheels and tires off it. he wont split them up for me.

Buy the truck, make it run, swap wheels, and come out money ahead on the deal.

You guys can try N.A.D.A. Home Page for values if KBB is not shooting you right. Nada is National automotive dealers association. Most banks out here in the middle of the country use Nada.

Used Car Value - Ford F250 PICKUP-3/4 Ton-V8; W25 7.5L V8 Heavy Duty Supercab XL

theres a link for the truck I just bought

edit...and ignore that it says 7.5L It just lists on the link because the 460's were the standard engine for that truck

let alone fix up and flip another one.

So I went by on my way home and spoke with the owner of the shop where the truck has resided for most of the year. Here's a "no-it-all" about everything and is going to be my hurdle to get this thing for a good price. I offered $750 and he said the least the owner would take was $1800, the longer we talked it magically went down to $1500. I called the owner of the truck and let him know that I have a cash offer out for $750, and he said he's leaving everything up to the shop owner. The shop owner let it slip that he's been trying to sell for 9 months now and also said the vehicle owner owes him money.

I left my name and number with both and told them to call when they get closer to $750. I figure I'll check back in the first of the year and annoy them a little more until they either sell to me or someone else.

I'll keep everyone posted if and when something changes.

WTG Cwright! I wouldn't wait till then. I would call him back in a week or 2 (Xmass is around the corner). Maybe at 1000 or something (it easy for me to spend your money hu?, lol). I would 1st keep posting to hit your 25 post mark and stop by there and take a BUNCH of pictures! I mean the underneath and motor and leaks and the whole 9 yards. If you spen a bunch of time "picking the truck apart", he may think you might be losing intrest and he may settle. Whatever you do DON'T GIVE HIM THIS SITE, lol

You could take pics of leaking difs, greasy airintake tube, the valley!....The valley when he is there put your hand in the valley and pinch a bunch of the grease grim and cat hair...smell it and look him in the eye and say "where is it leaking fuel from?" Really go over it good and pick it all apart.

Lol! It's all good Copedawg! I keep about 5 - 7 deals negotiating at a time and when one hits with my rediculous offer, then it's time to grab it. I only have time for one or two projects at a time, so if a few "good" deals slip by, then the "great" ones make up for it.

The truck is wasting away in the back of his shop, and until I can get it for $1000 or less, then I don't want it. This is a unique situation, the shop owner doesn't care if he sales, and the vehicle owner is allowing him to drive the price. Reading between the lines, I believe the vehicle owner wants to reconcile the debt he owes asap, and the shop owner is trying to line his pockets with some extra cash for more than what he's owed.

Eventually, I believe the vehicle owner will push him to sell to reconcile, and when he does... then they already have me as a buyer.
