EZ Down tailgate assist

Why do you need to remove your tailgate with a 5th wheel?
Are Ford tailgates really that heavy? I thought they were counter-sprung, or is that only the 150?
If the 2011 tailgates are as heavy as the video shows - this will be the best bang for buck $50 you can spend on your truck.
The fuel tank and EZ-Down certainly were the two best things I did to my GMC

After three years of pulling the latch on a Tundra and letting the tailgate drop, I've nearly hurt myself a couple of times with the Ford SD tailgate when forgetting that it will free fall. I didn't know an option existed for an add-on spring assist until now. I'll be checking into buying one before I do break the camera or cables or the stripper pole....

Installed mine in 10 mins. Works just like the one on my old Tundra. Love when I am carrying something heavy out to the truck. I don't have to put it down. Just pull the latch and let it "drop". Ironically I get a lot of comments about how cool it is when people see me do it. Not used to seeing it on Fords I guess.

Etrailer.com has them and has a best price pledge. They also offer free shipping if your order is over $150. It's where I got mine.

My 2005 tailgate has a lock. Why wouldnt yours? I keep mine locked because that way my tailgate is still there when i want it to be. I was thinking an easy down and power unlock on the astrostart remote a cool addition, just havnt got round to it. I have. Agricover roll up tonneau, works great, secure, out a site and mind.
