Maybe at lower RPM's you'd get better mileage... but if you're upping the main jets your using more fuel when your foots in it..... so no you wont get better overall mileage.

So you said it is not much of a difference just going with open exhaust, so that means I won't need to add extra fuel. Is there any way to tell if I might be lean? I have an old 87 truck nothing to tell by unless I dyno it lol.

Just research on tuning carbs. Usually just check the color of your spark plugs and go from there...

Did you cut off an edge of the y-pipe or the bracket? I have had this set in my '96 for two years now and just swapped the auto out for the 5-speed. This has me on hold and on foot at the moment. Do you have any photos of the y-pipe installed? This will help out a lot. Thanks

I just cut off an edge on the front of the crossmember for extra clearance. Its way to cold to go take a pic now, even in my garage LOL.

That's cool, I understand about the weather. Getting too cold to do much up here. I can visualize what you are talking about now. I am just going to temp mine with flex pipe for now and build a new y-pipe later. Thank you.

Reviving an old thread here; how are your headers holding up and what exhaust did you put behind them? I have a similar situation in a 97 and am looking at options other than Banks that include a Y-pipe. Can you fit the headers in w/o moving the engine?

Headers are doin fine. They DO come with a Y pipe that bolts up to factory stuff. I put a big body 3" magnaflow on it (no cat), I love the sound with the side pipes. Its been a while but I believe I had to lift up motor a lil bit to get 'em in...

Had a set myself. I Chucked them about 5 years ago and got some L&L headers. They are night and day different in quality.

You have any pics of how you modded the bracket to y pipe? I have mine close but not satisfied with the clearances

I basically just cut out a corner of it to make it work. I ended up with about 1/2" of clearance.

Finally bought a new egr valve. Where did you get the egr tube and fittings? I cant find any fittings that are the same thread as the bung on the headers
