If you don't have any oil psi, your low pressure pump may have died. If the high pressure oil pump reservoir goes empty, your injectors cannot fire. On a high note, at least if your lpop dies on you, the motor shuts off before it does damage.

Two things come to mind when a truck just shuts off. First is a cam sensor. But you said the tach was reading. Next is the fuel bowl heater element. The little puck in the bottom of your fuel bowl. If it comes loose and touches the fuel bowl, it will shut the truck off.

When you try to start it, does the wait to start light come on? If not, check that heater element. It has a bad rep for coming loose from the 3 soldier joints that hold it.

just unhook it from the side of the fuel bowl and change the fuse if needed if that is the problem then it should fire up

Put new fuel heater element in and scaned it with on codes coming up, fuss was 17 or 18 can remeber right now. still won't start. tac.does work but only reads a couple hundred rpms and oil presure doesn't come up,I did fill the front res. up. picking up new cps tommarrow and going to try that. I just hope it's not the LPOP, I can't remember, is the lpop in the pan?

OK, put new CPS in, new FHE in, and no codes, tac. works, WTS is working. No oil presure, so I filled top resover and removed oil line to the injectors and turned over and oil did come out so HPOP is working, renistalled oil line and refilled resovor and left plug off and turned engine over and the oil level when't down. So that pionts the the LPOP. Does that sound wright or am I going in the wrong direction? And I'm asuming that the oil presure sending unit is on top of the HPOP housing?
