Since rifle season started today lets see what's getting bagged. My dad got one at noon today. Nice 4 point 140 lbs.

He got this one in NH on Wednesday 8 point 170 lbs

He is going to try Maine next weekend, going for the tri-state triple Buck crown. LOL

My dad got a small 5 pointer 125 lb. It has a small fork on each side and a small point on the lower right.

We would call the first two a two point and a three point here. Last one a spike. I got a two point a few days ago and had back strap for dinner tonight. We can take 4 bucks per person per household here with a 6 month season. Ain't life in Alaska grand?

Hey Arctic. The last one is technically a 5 but really a glorified spike horn. Is it easy to fill the 6 per person limit? I don't quite understand what you explained for how you classify them. In Colorado the 8 point would be called a 4x4 and the 4 point a 2x2.

We count the points on one side less the eye guards. A two point would have two on one side plus the eye guard. Lots of Sitka Black Tail here. Four per person. So I can take four and each of the boys can take four. Than if we want we can boat to another Island in another district and take two more per person. Also the Elk on This Island can be taken with a Deer tag as Fish and Game don't want them to take hold here. But they are taking hold anyway. Yee Haaa. We use the 4X4 and 2X3 designation here as well. Not counting the eye guards though. Yes it's easy to fill all the tags. We eat them as fast as we get them so we need very little freezer space. There is no sage or any thing strong for them to eat so the meat is mild and sweet. Even the ruttiest bucks are not strong tasting.

I understand now. If you can hang a ring on it, it counts as a point here. I am not that much into venison. All depends how it is cooked. All we have is white tail here.
