The majority of the 302/5.0 blocks were cast at the Ford Casting Plant in Brook Park (Cleveland, aka The Mistake on the Lake), Oh. In 2000, after Ford had phased out the 5.0 as a production motor, I hauled out the next to last casting machine that was producing the 5.0 blocks. At that time, they informed me that they were going to continue production on the 5.0 blocks for the SVT/Ford Racing division for another 6 months or so and then that would be it for 5.0 blocks coming from Cleveland. The machine I hauled ended up in Newton, Ks

It's my understanding that they were built at the Cleveland plant also at that time. When they took the casting machines out of the Cleveland plant, it was after the 5.0 had been dropped from production use. The guy at Ford that was supervising the removal of the machines said that the machine I was taking to a private buyer Kansas and the one they had left there that was still running were strictly casting blocks to build up inventory for the SVT/Ford Racing division for resale of the blocks and complete 5.0's that are available through your local Ford dealer's parts department, Summit Racing, Jegs, etc. As I recall the last machine was going to continue to produce inventory for another year maybe, and then was to be shut down completely. Leaving no more 5.0 blocks being cast by Ford in the U.S.
