97 4x4 ranger 4.0 OHV cracked head/gasket?
Hi:
97 4.0 OHV 4x4 with cracked heads at 187xxx miles ironically. . .
Maybe blown head gasket?
So i have been researching and now need some help.
Cracked head and just need to know any options I am missing.
Option 1: Alabama cylinder head outta business so no go there
Option 2: King cylinder . . . maybe? they show on their site 95tm, 98tm heads will work on my truck? I know in 98 they received smaller exhaust ports by 1/2 in. to achieve better smog values. I also read interchanging heads is bad.
Option 3: engine quest only makes 98tm heads. . .
Option 4: I do NOT want re manufactured heads. I want to go with new castings that have corrected the crack issue. i only want to do this job once.
I have heard of MoranaV6racing but have not found much info on their qualityor use.
Supersix is way out my my budget.
Does anyone see something I am missing?
5.0 swap sure, but I am not that mechanically inclined nor do I have the time, space, and resources to do this. So I rule this option out.
Running sealer in coolant helped but still have misfire in cyl 6 where as before reader said i had misfires in all cylinders. Cyl 6 misfire code just won't go away.
I have now removed that plasticky plenum abomination at this point.
I will continue and post some pics as i go.
I only want to do this once and on a budget.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
