I've been a lurker for quite a while and don't have many posts, but I have noticed a lot of hatefulness and negativity on this forum. And actually, not a ton of help. I feel that there is a lot of people saying why things won't work, etc. and not a lot of people offering suggestions to make things work. Take this post for example. Instead of "NO sports package, NO ranger, NO bucket seats, etc., I would rather hear "not common, but easy enough to use xxx seats and console to have a nice, comfortable truck."
BTW, my interest is in having an older truck that I can enjoy. What are other people doing? 100% concours perfect restorations? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but does it really matter if a ranger was offered in 64 unless you own a 64 ranger?
PS I have a 64 and would be interested in making it a ranger. Where would I start?

I looked to the last place i knew the brochure was posted and the link is broken.
you need Bostrom buckets with the correct seat brackets Falcon Sprint will do in a pinch, a carpet, 64 falcon sprint console, and a vyinal tank cover.
If you place mustang buckets in like a 65 Ranger they will be too now and a tell tale....
As to negativity, get over it fella.....We are all friends here even when we agree to disagree.

I am not an all original guy at all. I will do whatever I like to my trucks. I am not looking at what I can get if I sell. I want what is comfortable to me. I am thinking about running my 65 grille in the 61 unibody.
One guy in another section said that he would drop the price of a truck by 500 bucks or some other outrageous amount if the F_O_R_D letters are not in the hood on a 78 or 79 ford truck. My letters and side emblems are shaved on my truck. It is not a difficult task to drill the holes and put them back on. I would not lower my price by 500 dollars because of that.
To me these trucks are about what the owner wants it to be. As soon as you are over 2 grand and your labor, you will not recover a selling price for all that you have done. I do it for fun and I enjoy my trucks.
And Garbz, I will be right beside the strippers with some flaming Dr. Peppers.

I normally don't come to this forum site but thought I would try it one evening and saw this ongoing thread. My mom used to have a saying when I was a child and I quote,"Verbosity is not necessarily synonymous with intelectual discourse". It causes me to wonder what the moderator of this forum is thinking. Is this not a place to come and share one's experiences, dreams, and conserns? Rather than denegrating people would it not be better to present where your information is coming from and share it in a more curtious manor? If this is the way you treat each other why would others wish to visit from time to time?

In other words, there is a lot of good information here just read between the lines. So bring your toys and play in our sandbox, just remember, at the end of the day wipe your nose and we'll see you tomorrow.

Door pocket rings
Sorry, had to jump ahead and get away from all the arguments.
It was mentioned that there is available,,, 'Aluminum trim rings for the door pocket on for my 65' F-100. The originals had cracked and over the years, I have picked up two complete sets. However, the plastic one will always crack.
WHERE can I get a set of the aluminum ones.

I was a Ford partsman when these trucks were brand new. I have the part catalogs, and a 1964 sales brochure I bought after the last time someone claimed the truck was available.
There is no parts catalog reference for any 1964 Ranger parts, the 1964 sales brochure I bought has no info on them.
1962/63 and thru 12/1964, I was a partsman at Ralph Williams Ford in Encino CA, which at that time was the largest selling Ford Dealer on the planet.
If anyone would have had any of these so-called 1964 Rangers, it would have been Ralph.
I never saw one on the lot and I was planning on buying a new truck, so I looked at as many as possible. In March 1965, after I changed jobs, I bought a new 1965 F100 Standard Cab 352, with O/D.

I too have seen a '64 with the "XL Cab Package". (glad we now know what to call it) I passed on a chance to purchase it about 5 years back at a swap meet in Puyallup Washington. The rig was black with a red interior. I didn't think to snap any pictures. It was owned then by a friend who lived in Vancouver Washington. The truck was very rough, more than the usual amount of rust and age related deterioration.
All parts of the truck appeared to be original. The same amount of rust, grime, etc. on everything.
The seats, as I remember, appeared '63 Falcon hardtop style buckets and the console appeared to be from a '61-'63 Falcon. The brochure posted by tripleframe shows the '61-'63 style console.
I don't know where the truck I saw is now, though I would imagine it is still in the Pacific Northwest.

The zippered pockets were introduced in 1963, were an option on: 1963/66 F100/1100's, 1963/69 N/NT500/1000's and 1967/69 F800/1000's.
The pockets did not come with any package, were also available at the parts counter (its plastic chrome surround moulding was sold separately) and also fits 1961/62 F100/1100's.

The console in the pictures is very similar to a '64 Falcon console. The truck I was referring to had the older Falcon console, totally different than the '64 style. The early Falcon console had a heavy, die cast, plated top with matching die cast plated end pieces. It was shorter and taller than the '64 style console.
