Exclamation What type of rims for 1985 f350 dually

I just bought a 1985 f350 dually rollback from a guy out of state. he says it needs new rims and tires on the rear before I drive it far. I plan on taking a set down when i pick it up. My question is "Are the 16 8 bolt dually rims for the back supposed to be coined or not?" Since the truck is 300 miles away i want to make sure I take the right set of rims and tires along. I'm brand new on here. i also have a 1998 f150 supercab so I'm sure I'll be on this site alot.

I *believe* - but wouldn't bet my life on it - that 83 & older use coined wheels while 84+ use
the hub-centric things.

But, I'm not an authority on that, hope somebody who is will answer.

BTW welcome to FTE! Lots of good info out here....

If the existing ones are coined, every other lug hole on the wheel will have a dimple-like
thing, this is what centers the wheel to the hub. The hub-centric variants fit nicely over the
protruding hub, no real slack between the hub & wheel.

I asked on another forum and this is the responce i got form a guy that has had over 100 of these trucks

QUOTE
"1985 is a transition year between the coined and the hubcentric wheels.
if it is a Dana 70 axle, chances are it's coined.
if it is a Sterling 10.25, it's hubcentric."

So if you find out what axle it has. you will know what wheels

a D70 had 10 bolts on the diff cover
a sterling has 12
