Replacing the frame on a 99

Replacing the frame on a 99
To make a long story short, I bent the front end on my frame. The total estimate to get it fixed, along with other repairs, was around 6k. The insurance company said it was around $1500 from being totaled. My concern is that they're replacing my frame with a used one. Should I be ok with this? Insurance said that I have the option to take the $5,500 (6k - 500 deductible) and take the truck in it's current state or just leave things the way they are and deal with the used frame.
I heard that the vehicle is never the same with a different frame.
What would you do in my situation?
Any advice would be great and thank you!

It is a used truck that is 11 years old a new frame is definitely not an acceptable replacement IMO. Can't give any advice without knowing condition and specs of the truck. I'd definitely have more than one body shop give an estimate. Hard to believe they could replace a frame for that cheap and not total a '99.

To be honest, I too was surprised about having the frame replaced and not totaling the truck. A little more information about it...it has 122000 miles, ex cab, 4x4 and that's about it. Everything is standard other then the cd player that does not work.
Other things they have to replace are the airbags and everything that goes with them, the windshield, review mirror, cup holder (blown off by the airbags). Like I said before, the total was around 6k.
Thanks for your response, it's always nice to know that there are unbiased opinion out there.
