Excursion value going up!

When I was pricing excursions earlier this summer before I got mine KBB gave a value of 18K for this exact same setup:

Could it be that you aren't putting as many miles on it and so it is retaining more value with age?

Did you calc the value with the same mileage as when you got it and it spit out a higher number or did you put your new mileage?

I think they estimate 10-15K per year and if you did less than that, as it gets older, the mileage factors into retaining more value.

I did a quick check and rolled my 2004's mileage back by a years worth from 154000 to 128000 and mine went up by $2K in value.

Not trying to shoot a hole in your happiness, just some ideas as to why. I'd totally be happy if my EX investment goes up in value over time!

Its just the default mileage not the mileage of my X. I used the same number before because it was the average of what I was looking at.

i've known this for the last year after what i've been through.

i bought my 2004 XLT in march '09 for $12,000. sold it in june '10 for $14,500

then bought a 2000 LIMITED in augest '10 for $7800. recived $12,034 for it in october '10 when toatled.

then i just bought my 2002 LIMITED in november '10 for $10,847 and it currently books for over $12,000 here localy.

prices keep going up and finding a low mile well taken care of truck is getting harder and harder.

I expect they will retain their value simply because they don't make them and poeple still have a need for them. I expect that as these things age that you will be able to get more than bluebook out of them if they are well maintained. I got mine wholesale and it was not in bad shape but it needed lots of little things. I expect I could get $3-4k more than I paid for it.

I think the value of these trucks is driven more by the price of fuel than anything else. 2 years ago when diesel was $5 gallon I started looking and saw many available at prices a lot lower than when I bought mine about 2 months ago.

True, but Expeditions/Suburbans/Explorers (and fullsize Pickups) suffered
the same fate, and I get way better "fuel" mileage than any of them.

Speaking of gas prices, why are they going up again? Diesel is $3.20 by me.

Weaker US $. Oil is priced in $ and as it weakens the oil cost more. Nothing to do with supply or demand.

Cause elections are over!

My excursion also went up in value. Found out my tradein value is 1k less than I paid for it last year and I put 10k miles on it.. Thats tradein value thru my finance company, not a chister dealer.

Yeah when I bought mines they were going for 9K by the time the fuel was high I was lucky I got 7K for it. Now I wish I would have kept it.

fuel is going to go up as inflation caused by the weak dollar hits. as the dollar gets weaker the price for oil goes up
