2010 w/5.4 or 2011 w/6.2
I currently have a 2010 FX4 crew cab (picture below). Long story short, it was the family vehicle, now i am getting a divorce and I bought the future ex a new vehicle and i can finally do what i want to my truck, or maybe trade it in on a Superduty.
Option 1 - Keep the truck and get a lift, cut the fenders, take the box off, put a flat bed on it and stuff 40" tires under it, mount pipe bumpers front and rear and have the most hill billy 2010 F150 FX4 around.
Option 2 - trade it in on what i wanted to buy in the first place a new 2010 F250 XL 4x4 with the 5.4 V8, lift it and stuff 40" tires under it.
Option 3 - take a big hit on trade and get a 2011 F250 XL 4x4 with the 6.2 V8, lift it and stuff 40" tires under it.
How much more power does the 6.2 have behind the 6 speed vs the 5.4 behind the 5 speed? I think the 5.4 is a dog in my F150 with the 6 speed behind it, so i imagine i am going to want to spend the extra money on the new 6.2, unless the 5.4 works a lot better with the 5 speed tranny? Any help would be apprecited. I am going to make a decision in the next month so i would apprecite any feedback. I really don't like paying for all the flashy leather and crap that comes with the FX4 package, but the e locker is pretty cool, however if i get a Super duty ill just get a detroit for the rear when i swap the gears to turn the 40's anyway, so i pretty much just talked myself out of option 1.
Really looking to hear how awesome the 6.2 is in the 2011's, and or how good the 5.4 is with a 5 speed tranny in the 2010.
Thanks everyone for the help.
