My truck has just over 15,000 miles on it , and i have allready replaced the belt once , due to it making a squealing noise like a pig getting ready for slaughter. I have about 2000 miles on this belt , and it is beginning to make noise like the old one !

If the belt was a normal price , I wouldn't mind , but i paied a hell of allot of money for this thing , and it is allready going bad, and for the record it is a ford part , not some aftermarket crap. I was just wondering if anyone else was having / had the same issues with their PSD's eating belts ?

And please dont tell me to use belt dressing , becasue that stuff actually eats up belts over time , plus gets everywhere...

 

Joe- on an earlier model like mine, if the truck is eating belts, it's because one of the pulleys, usually the tensioner pulley, is out of alignment, and that's what shortens their life. Your truck is new enough to be covered by warranty, so I'd have that looked at.

 

I seem to remember seeing in this group somewhere that there was a service bulletin regarding your problem. As posted, it may be a warranty fix.... Good luck..

Just had my belt and idler replaced at 22500 their is a tsb on them , also look at the pulley on power steering pump some came misaligned. you can tell if belt is wearing on one edge. also S. WRITER said not under warrenty but service mgr said different after i showed him copy of TSB. hope this helps BB. PS this is on 2001 psd
