When I saw the title of this thread, I knew Ranger429 was gonna have a post showing off his stuff.lol. You're a lucky man to have all that CB stuff.

The factory CB is listed in my 1980 brochure, but it isn't listed in the 1981 brochure, so I think the factory CB option died out after 1980. I have seen a bunch of CB setups in dentsides, but I have never seen one in an 80-86, except in the brochure. I have my eye open for one, but I doubt i'll come across a factory setup.

10-4 copy that!
I had lots of fun with the CBs in the 70s.Let's do it. I've had a couple friends tell me they have one I can have only to find out their wives have sold them in a yard sale! Dang women! I used to have a couple but I have lost them through the years too.
Is there a big difference in technology in the CBs 70s vs today ? I was kinda thinking an old one would be cool in the 73.

I don't know if they have changed or not. I'm going to dig mine out here in a few days and see if it still works . I think I saw a couple of ugly stick antennas hanging in my shop atic.

Yea but it seems like people look at you weird when you tell them you got a old 70's Ford truck for a daily driver an you are going to add a CB to it. They look at me like I am crazy an why the blank do you want to put that kind of money into a old piece of junk like that. An them they complain bout the repair bill on there vehicles go figure with people now of days. An yea my dad had a CB in his truck in the 80's an I like to listen to everybody on there.

The older CBs are stronger than what can be bought new today, I have a cheap, older Cobra 19 plus in my '99 F350, and a BIG Wilson 1000 antenna right where it should be: right in the center of my crew cab's roof!-I'm trying to find the mic reel that the truckers use so I can hang my mic....

Yeah, those old cobras were good ones and having that roof mount antenna is best. I had a couple of what we called ugly sticks on mine, not near as good as a roof mount. I used them so I could park in my garage without breaking them . They only cleared the cab by a few inches and they are kinda ugly.

I have had a cb in every truck I've had. I had a cobra 148gtl in my ranger with a 102" steel whip off the back. Looked kinda like a rc truck, but it got the job done. Alot of guys out my way still run cb's, we play tag with em on say nights.

If it wern't for the big CB craze in the late 70s early 80s I wouldn't have met my Wife:
My Mom bought me a CB from Radio Shack for Christmas in 1977 I think, I then found some locals on channel 3 and then my group of friends went and met the other locals one being a friend of one of the locals Wife, we were introduced and we will have been married 32 years next April 21st!!!

I actually can't think of any of my buddies who don't have a CB in their trucks. Heck, I even have one in the F100, and it doesn't even run.

Oh yea, i'm only 18, so you know CBs are still cool if a bunch of 18 year olds have them.

Unfortunately, the lingo is gone, as no kid is gonna know all the codes and whatnot, so now all you hear is people talking like on a phone.

i have one in both my trucks (unfortunatly neither is a dent tho) and i use them both everytime i drive them. i use a cobra 29 ltd classic in my 95 f150 and a cheapo radioshack one in my forign fighter DD. i use whips on both, on the f150 they are bed mounted and with the flareside bed they are too close to operate both. on my DD i afro engineered mirror mounted whips and it looks nice and redneck... lol
