If I understand you correctly you are having problems with a C4 trans?

If so what kind of problems are you having?

This trans can be built to withstand in excess of 400hp without to much fuss.

I have two Broncos with C4's and wouldnt trade for them. Parts are cheap for them as well.

e-mail me directly if you need help.

You do have a transmission cooler installed, right? Is it large enough for your Bronco?

NO I DID NOT INSTALL A COOLER. JUST STRAIGHT TO THE RADIATOR WHICH IS NEW. I DID NOT KNOW IF ONE WAS REQUIRED. DID THE ORIGINAL'S HAVE COOLERS? THE 73 I TOOK IT OUT OF,HAD THE MOTOR AND RADIATOR PULLED OUT OF IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT FOR PARTS. COULD THIS BE MY WHOLE PROBLEM? ANY SUGGESGTIONS FOR AT COOLERS. IT IS KILLING ME HAVING MY BRONCO SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE SPRING WEATHER HERE IN MISS.,AND I HATE TO HAVE A REBUILD UNLESS I NEED IT FOR SURE. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP.

The cooler is in the radiator itself. As long as it is not plugged, it should be sufficient.

Have you pinpointed the location that it leaks from?

IT IS LEAKING FROM BEHIND THE FLYWHEEL AND POURING STRAIGHT DOWN. I REPLACED THE FRONT SEAL AND BUSHING. STILL THE SAME. IT WILL IDOL ALL DAY LONG AND NOT LEAK,GO DOWN THE ROAD A FEW MILES AND IT BEGINS POURING. AS SOON AS YOU SHUT THE MOTOR OFF IT QUITS. SOMEONE TOLD ME TO CHECK THE VENT TUBE. I THINK I FOUND IT BY HAND,DOES IT HAVE A METAL CAP ON IT? IF SO IT MOVES FREELY UP AND DOWN SO IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE STOPPED UP. I AM TRYING TO FIX IT WITHOUT PULLING IT OUT BUT MY OPTIONS ARE RUNNING OUT. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. I DOUBLED CHECK MY RADIATOR COOLER TO MAKE SURE IT WASNT STOPPED UP AND IT IS WORKING FINE. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP

The vent is in the adaptor between the transmission and transfer case.

How does the torque converter look? Was it from your parts truck or did you purchase a new one. It is possible to have a crack in it that will not leak at idle. When you drive it, the transmission fluid pressure builds, causing it to leak. It could also be coming from the front pump itself where it seals to the transmission housing.

Either way, it is going to take pulling the transmission out. You might think about having it built and getting a new converter. To answer your original question, the C4 can be built to handle lots of power and HD use. You just need to focus on what your main use is going to be.
