F100Mann, you have at least 2-3 things working against you...

1) 1980 was a one-year-wonder concerning wiring on these trucks (although I don't know that this particular component deviated from prior & former years, just that, in general, 1980 trucks are pretty unique with some of their wiring)

2) Not many people have the 3-on-the-tree configuration anymore

Personally, I think you should search the harnesses, maybe even go as far as starting at the rear bulbs and following the wires back. Sometimes people cut off plugs & harnesses when they think/feel they have no need for the functionality they allowed.

Has nothing to do with the B/U switch.
EOTZ-15520-C is the correct B/U lamp switch for 1980/86 E/F100/350 3 M/T / See the parts catalog apps in post 13.

I've spent several hours with this member looking this crap up and posting the fracatta pics (thanks to you ).

Remember when you vacationed here, how riled up I got when I couldn't buy the laptop I wanted?

You said to me: "You're harder to get along with in person than you are on FTE!"

After reading posts 12 & 14, I'm steaming! So, I'm leaving before you give me a vacation!

To everyone else here, don't be offended by anything Bill says or how he may come across, he's really a good guy and is trying to help, he is FTE's resident parts expert with craploads of parts books & microfiche & 30+ years of experience working at dealerships.

But he's definitely not personable and easy to get along with, he's a cranky old grouch who will bitch & whine to no end when something irritates him having a 1980/89 light truck parts catalog myself, there are plenty of places to get PO'd at Ford for how they organized things.

Point being, don't misinterpret anything he's saying as yelling at you or belittling you or anything, it's nothing at all personal, it's just the way he is and he even treats me & She, who must be obeyed that way....

I survived 17 days with Chris aka Mr. Clean and lived to tell about it.

If you plan on picking Chris up at LAX (or anywhere else) make sure you know what he looks like.

I told him before he left, look for a grey 2013 Escape with handicapped plates.

I sped right past him at LAX the first time around cuz his avatar pic doesn't match his mug.

2nd time around, he sees me coming, asks...are you Bill? I coulda said no and whizzed away, but...

When he gets in...says, I didn't see a handicapped placard hanging from your mirror. No placard Chris...PLATES!

So long as I don't read complaints from other people, I have no intention of giving you any vacations.

I would suggest though, Bill, that you stop telling people they don't have a clue, as that can be construed as being confrontational and/or personally attacking somebody, and *that* is a vacationable offense.

The guy who posted that C9 switch is only trying to help the OP... it may in fact be the wrong switch and not help the OP at all, but, hey, he's just tryin' to help the guy, and calling him names or insulting him isn't the way to make any friends... there are kinder, gentler, less-offensive ways of telling somebody they're wrong without insulting them and getting 'em pissed off at ya (and attracting attention to yourself)....

Edited out comments.

"She who must be obeyed" just returned from 2 weeks in India. While she was gone, I had new carpet installed in m/bedroom, sliding glass door windows tinted, other stuff, cost me 1900 bucks.

But I just knew that within a few minutes, "She" would find something to b!tch to me about. And I was right...sigh, 2 week vacation over.

Thanks. You are a tremendous resource with gobs of knowledge and experience, but let me explain how these forums work across the Internet...

Guy posts his question or problem and gets all kinds of responses... it is up to him to decide who he wants to place his trust in and believe, maybe over time he will try several suggestions.

Earning people's respect comes not only from sharing your knowledge & experience & helping people, but doing so in a way that doesn't belittle or offend others and make you come off as an arrogant ***.

Did she ever come to Denver? Last June maybe? I told her to give me a call or e-mail and we'd do lunch since I work right near the convention center but we never connected.

She was there, but I don't recall when. She was either in Phoenix before or after Denver, I don't recall.

June was rather trying, because after working for the same company for 30 years, her division was closed, she and her crew were "laid off."

Within 2 days, she had two unsolicited offers (the "word" gets around quickly in the corrosion engineer biz), both for more money. One locally, one in San Diego.

She took the local position, it's 10 miles ENE further away (one way) than the South Gate job, but she gets there quicker as she doesn't have to take traffic clogged surface streets.

She takes the freeway...all the freeway traffic is headed the other way, west in the morning, east in the evening.
