‘54 Rear Axle?

Does this look like the original rear axle? Plate in the glovebox says 3.92 ratio. Good for quick takeoff. But I don’t want the 5x5-1/2” bolt pattern as I have many sets of wheels for 5x4-3/4” and 5x5” so I will be trading away this axle. Will be a custom truck not stock restoration.

That is not the original axle. That is a 1961-72 f100 by looking at the shock brackets

Don’t see one. I turned the wheel one revolution and the pinion turned a bit less than two. Which would tell me its in the mid to upper 3:1 ratio. Also, the inside of the drums are roughly the same width as the bed sides.

I am in the process of replacing my rear suspension with a 4-link/8.8 and will have this setup available. New TracLoc, new Currie gears, new FRRP disk brakes, lowered springs, etc. Shoot me a PM if you're interested...I'm in the Nashville area.

Charlie, are those stock Y-hangers on your rear chassis?

Y-hangers? Not sure what you are referring to. The leaf spring mounts/shackles are stock, the lower spring mount plate/lower shock mounts came from Midfifty in their flip kit.

Thanks Charlie. Rear leaf spring shackles are called Y-hangers. New lingo to this old fellow too. I had to replace mine recently, so that’s the only way I knew the phrase.
