They are wonderful heads and perform just as FoMoCo intended. PI means Police Interceptor

They were designed to run down the Hwy at 60-80 MPH all day long in a full size Cop Car. When the MAN saw a speeder they offer'd out of the hole grunt with an awesome midrange and great top-end up to the 130-140mph the PI cars ran to intercept the speeder.

I run them on a 460 Roller Motor'd Offshore Powerboat w/ SS Headers 4" Exhausts 429SCJ Intake and 850 Marine DP. The PI Int Ports are a cross between the large as can be CJ/SCJ and common production ports. The Exhausts are lacking the thumb sized Air Inj Ex Gas knorb and Ex ports are no where near the size/height of the CJ/SCJ so they don't need special header flanges. . The valves are same as CJ/SCJ and guide plates etc are great. FYI the PI Ex Manifolds look like mini CJ/SCJs=light years better then production logs.

I just run an essentially stock Ford Racing/Ford Industrial Marine 460 shortblock

with the std HD rods and the earlier forged pistons (later they got hypers). Just clearenced and carefully assembled.
My rev's stay in the 3,000-6,000 range in my boat

Heat 460s put out? That's about the most absurd statement I've ever heard

about Fords. The 460 puts out as much heat as any other motor and barely no more heat then a 429. A 460 in a boat is essentially pulling on a dyno full time that's a heat maker and the PI heads work awesome. If you can afford PI heads in your budget the difference is exactly what FoMoCo engineers designed them for "Intercepting" The difference from putting them on vs std 460 heads was no exageration about 25% more noise, midrange and top end power.
