Blower Motor continues to baffle me
Hello fellow Ford Truck fans. I am completely baffled by my situation. The fuse for my blower motor quit on me in the summer of 2009. I replaced the blower motor with a new one and the blower worked good, didn't blow any fuses for quite some time. That is until this past spring 2010. I went most of the summer without it, finally replacing it about 3 weeks ago with yet another brand new motorcraft blower motor. Now this morning the fuse again blew. I have even replaced the relay. I can't figure out what is causing the low life expentancy of my blower motors. Could my switch be bad? If the blower motor is too tight could the squirel cage be rubbing on something? I'm at a point where I need to take it in and spend some cash to get a tech to look at it. I'm unemployed and don't have much cash so I would rather not go this route. Any suggestions?

i dont get it. the fuse blows and you replace the motor ?? was the motor bad? maybe the wiring thru the firewall is touching ground, or the switch has a bad spot with power to ground, etc. Normally when a fuse blows it means you momentarily pulled too many amps thru the fuse. It blows so the wire will not burn. May or may not have anything to do with the motor. ----resistor block under the glove box could have two wires touching or shorted to ground also..

i have worked on a few GM (chevy) trucks that have bad ground connection on the block on passenger fender well behind the air intake box. The bad ground makes the blower motor wires, among other things run hot.. Burnt resistor block, burn connector to the block, burnt plug to the blower motor are all common..... have not seen that on a FORD. Resistor block failures do occure.
