I ordered a new 2011 f250 with the manual shift transfer case. I sure hope I can get 13 out of the 4x4 with 4.30 EL.

My 2011 6.7L Crew Cab shortbed FX4 with 3.55 gears and the 18" wheels with factory ~33" Michelin tires gets about 15.5 in the city and up to 20 (on a good day) empty on an easy highway drive. Realistically closer to 18 consistently on the highway. Towing of course depends massively on so many factors, but pulling ~17k pounds worth of flatbed gooseneck and very un-aerodynamic cargo sticking way up in the airstream brings it down to about 9 or 10. I feel like I can't complain too much, especially for being able to get up onto the onramp without feeling like I'm going to get run over because I can't get up to speed...

There is a website called http://www.fuelly.com/ that people put in their fuel mileage for all makes and models. I think it's a good snap shot of overall mpg. It tells % of highway and in the notes people will say if they tow or not.

2011 F250 Lariat,6.7 FX4, 4 door 37k on odometer
highway 70-75 mph 19.3-19.5 mpg
in town 16.7-17.0
I do drive it like a truck, I ease into it from stops, no jack rabbit starts (unless the kid in the rice grinder is racing his engine)
very happy with the power and quickness

2012 F350 6.7 4x4 Lariat with 45,000

98% Highway Miles 70-75 MPH was getting 21-21 MPG (hand Calc not the computer)

Now that it is lifted with 35's I get around 19

Towing has always killed me and does not matter if it is 5000lbs or 15,000lbs mine drops to around 13.5-15.

Wow, Rexp and BOHAWG175, that's all pretty impressive for the 6.2L gasser. Nice!

Where I'm at the price difference between gas and diesel is 80 cents US right now. I would need to get 4 mpg better with the diesel just to break even with fuel. When you factor in maintenance it would take around 4.3 mpg better for break even. Even though I would love to be back in a diesel, it just makes more sense to have a gas truck that will be adequate for the task at hand.

MPG

With my much modified E99 F350 (3.73 rear, auto) the best I get on long trips is 16.

This truck is lifted, has big front bumper, winch, big tires etc.
