Lots of guys have done the auto to manual swap, do a search and you should find some threads. Redman (Jacob) just recently did it. Have you ever stretched a frame? Don't mean to be a butthead, just checking. I used to do it on big trucks. It can be done but needs to be done right.

I'd help you with pics but it took me a year to figure out how to and I'm no good at explaining anything to do with the computer. Something like download to photobucket and image post them here, that's as good as I can do..

For pics go to the top and click Galleries and Manage/Create. Make a gallery with pictures in it, then after the pics are on there you can click below them where it says "Forum Codes", copy and paste in the post. Should start and end with [IMG] if it's the right code. You can do the same with pics in your "garage" on the lower top toolbar.

As far as switching to longbed, could you find a frame from a F350 crew cab long bed? It would be even better if you found a F350 4x4 because you would have the Dana 60 front axle instead of the TTB.

For the manual swap you need the ZF5 trans from a 88-97 7.3, flywheel and clutch for your year truck (Valair), pedals from a 92-97 F150-F350, and hydraulics from a manual PSD or 460 truck.

Thanks Dave. I'm gathering all the info that I can about this for when I swap the ZF5 from my '88 into my '95.

Also forgot to mention that there's some re-wiring you'll need to do for the neutral safety switch, reverse lights, etc. But Redman84 can help you with that when it's time.

I don't suggest cutting and welding the frame unless you really know what your doing.

Be easier to find a donor frame IMO.

I know your pain though.
at least you have a big cab.

yep, gotta love the long truck. No shortbox for me either. My dad had a fiberglass lid on his pickup with a shortbox and I called it an overgrown car, short box with a lid, can't haul nothing. He finally took the lid off.

I couldn't agree more!! To each their own I guess. I won't be knocking on anybody who has one unless it was my dad too, especially if they don't do anything with the bed, but you'll never see one on mine. I LOVE my long bed. I can carry SO MUCH in it. It's nice to be able to put whatever in and close the tailgate and go. Heck we can stack plywood sheets til they hit the toolbox and close the gate. No crazy strapping and what not...

Not to Hijack,
Just wondering if anyone has tried putting suicide doors on our extended cabs?

Well the thing is, i have a 2002 F-450 7.3 Flat bed..So anything and everything i need to haul/move i can use that. I really just use my truck as a car. So a short box would be nice. I mean its a daily driver and massive lol. Its alot shorter than my crew cab long bed i used to have tho...And im actually starting to miss that truck.

Yes, you can use the trans and t-case from the '93 (read my previous post) You can use your existing wiring for it, or might be able to use the '93 5-speed wiring, not sure. Send a PM to Redman84, he can tell you.

My long bed super cab doesn't do so well up here for urban cruising, the parking spots are ridiculously small. Narrow is bad enough, but they are so short I usually need two.
