We have to burn E10 here, but usually get close to 18mpg on trips. Some day I will find some real gas and see what that does.

ahh, but once you do the cam phasers its a truck that runs like brand new, lots of power. love my 04, though it was a $3200 fix. and up to about 110km/hr not bad gas mileage at all. considering.

Don't forget 4x4's get about 1mpg less than non-4x4's.

That being said, the best I've ever gotten was about 17mpg hand-calculated on a straight 250mile freeway shot going 65mph in my FX4 with 3.73's. Empty or loaded with 4 of us with crap in the back doesn't seem to make much difference.

Ahh ok that explains a little of it then. You're probably turning what, 1700rpm at 70mph?

I get 15 mpg average out of my 8200lbs 4X4 Heavy F150. It may be so good because the lowest grade fuel over here is 95 octane. (100 and 102 octane costs extra and is only really interesting for Porsches and things). I wish I could optimize my engine for the 95 octane fuel as I might be able to better my mpg. I have the stupid big heavy 7-lug truck so only get 60 mph for 2000 rpm. I know my wheels are smaller than normal F150 wheels, plus the axle ratio makes it low geared. I tend to drive just under 2000 rpm.

maybe look into this
Power Hungry Performance - Gryphon™
they can do a high test tune for you and you end up with a guage cluster that fits your truck and shows you alot of info from the heart of your truck on the fly. plus better power and mpg
