truck eating coolant

well it appears my truck is eating coolant. it will smoke like crazy and the engine will vibrate like crazy and my coolant reservoir depletes itself every week. im assuming one of the head gaskets is blown. any one have any suggestions?

Based on your mileage, you have a decision to make. Rebuild the motor, trade it off, or buy a rebuilt block and go from there. This is a big project you are looking at. It would be good to do a compression test of the cylinders to make sure but I think the writing is on the wall.

Ah! A freeze plug sure beats a blown head gasket. Glad it was something simple.

What year truck and which engine? The freeze plug can cause you to lose coolant, but I don't get the connection between the freeze plug and the smoke. Is the smoke coming from the exhaust or from iunder the hood?

Freeze plug leaks directly on the exhaust manifold, the vibrating though I a not sure of.

either the antifreeze is getting onto a COP and causing the missfire, or the head gasket still has a small leak, due to motor overheating due to the freeze plug leak.. Fix the freeze plug first, clean coils and wires, then test again... if you still have water usage, consider BARS head gasket sealer to fix that

another update! ive done research. white smoke and the horrible smell refer to burning coolant. so its not burning oil it has to be coolant

I would pressure check the system. Sounds like your motor has multiple issues.
