1956 f100 axle help.

I am building a 1956 F100 hotrod. I need an axle for the truck. my options are to use the axle from a 1986 F-150 and narrow the housing or go the the local salvage yard and buy an Explorer axle that is the right width. plus has disc brakes. any help would be appreciated.

Look for a rear diff, from a 57 to 72 f100 and it will be the right width and buy an aftermarket disc brake conversion to fit if you really think you need disc's out back

Hello and welcome to FTE

Yep up to 72 F-100 9" rear - try to find it geared at 3.25 to 3.00.
