What have you done to your truck today?
And brakes, a rear driveshaft, the transmission and transfer case need to be rebuilt, the wiring needs to be gone over, the holes in the cab and front bed panel need to be addressed, and the suspension needs to be gone through as well.
Got around to patching in a new fusible link for the BK/O feed to the fuse block and now have nice bright headlights that stay on until I turn them off. Then on to the fuse block...
13 fuses in the block 2 of which weren't needed (in unused spots), 6 of the wrong values - 2 of which were blown but shorted with wire.
Finally replaced my w/washer/overflow bucket with the one I picked a few months back and straightened out the front wheel well that was pushed down out of shape like someone stood on it. Followed that with bypassing the heater core that started leaking a few months ago.
Sure am glad this isn't my daily driver. What a mess this thing is but I only have it for the now & then runs to big box, gravel stores or the dump.
Close to 100 the last few days... probably would've enjoyed opening the pool more than this stuff!

It'll be nice not to worry about it getting dark out before I get home. I always thought the problem was only at the dimmer switch being a few flips of it would bring the lights back on or make them brighter in some cases. I guess the surge from going low to high beams etc. with the new switch finally pushed the loose and sloppy twist (PO handiwork) of the blown fusible link apart.
Now I can replace those dash lights with the LEDs that another user posted about.
Gary, your site was helpful as usual! Even tho' I have the manuals, it's much easier to study a block schematic online (or locally) and print out what I need while watching a Mets game.

Took a look at it this morning and found that when I had the dizzy out I knocked the vacuum advance lever out of whack. The new pick up coil I put on before was a pretty poor fit into the hole of the advance lever. I had to shave some plastic from the bushing on it to get it to fit.
I also swapped in a new battery to solenoid cable, eventually I'll replace the rest of the cables too but that one was the worst (and the easiest to replace )

I bought a universal center console for the truck, seems pretty nice. I also made a dipstick support piece out of a coat hanger since the original broke off when I put the headers on 4 years ago. That's pretty secure now, before it wiggled a lot at idle. Nice and steady now. That was kind of difficult to make, we'll see how long it lasts. That coat hanger was tough to bend.
