What have you done to your truck today?
I finally found a good condition factory air cleaner for the truck at the JY today. It's off of a 1980 or 81 351M. Not the 351 H.O or 460 air cleaner I wanted. But it has a brand new crankcase filter in it, an almost new air filter and the flapper vacuum canister works and holds vacuum. The air cleaner lid is from a 78 or 79 Bronco because the bimetallic spring was missing from this air cleaner's original lid. It is in functional condition as well. Just need to clean it up and paint it. I however do need a diagram of how they hose up. I got the right tube box for the core support off of an 84, 85 or 86 but I have a 1980 or 81 hose. So, that's for sale as it's in decent condition. I'll just use a generic hose for mine.
The device in the side may be for spark delay. The only thing you should need is on vacuum hose from the bimetal to manifold vacuum, one through a one way restrictor (no restriction from flap motor to bimetal) and one to flap motor.
That way it closes with vacuum, but won't fall open when you step on the gas in cool weather.

Nice, I am still looking for a aircleaner housing for mine. Did find one NOS without the snorkel but I am not going to pay $400 for that.
I did how ever order a step up solenoid bracket for my truck looks identical to the one on my '78 Mercury just holding off on getting a solenoid as I found a few on ebay but didnt exactly want to fork over $70. I did find one new for a Toyota that was just $15 and looks like it might work but I want to find out if it is a strong enough solenoid to push the throttle open. If so I might have to wire up a relay to send direct battery voltage to the compressor and the solenoid to prevent burning up the dealer a/c switch.

OH! one of those. I'll have to go look for one in the JY off of some emissions equipment. Will one out of the distributor vacuum advance line work?
Yes for mine, the base is all split to hell all around. That was also one of the ones I found, its nice that he dropped the price some but I still think $100 is to much for that without the snorkel. All I really want is just the base my lid is fine.
Today I took the old instrument cluster out of my truck, as well as the aftermarket non working stereo. I installed my new wiper delay switch, and now I am waiting for my delivery of new LED's for the cluster. The stereo will have to wait for a while. I have to get just about everything else done first.
Finally got around to heading over to my parents house and pulling the motor so I can rip her apart and have a looksie...
Can you Imagine a more redneck way to pull a motor by yourself than pulling the engine hoist across your gravel driveway with another truck???
Ehh... Something's missing
Looks like it needed to be pulled anyways... Strange that BOTH sides did it in the SAME spot!
Lucky for me my engine hoist breaks down into several pieces so I can take it to my house to unload the engine with!
Funny thing happened... I got to the point of having everything in the truck and realized that when we went to Watkins Glen last weekend I took the straps out of the truck to make room for the Brother in law and Sister in law. Lucky for me I live only a couple blocks away and it rode alright. Sure scared me though!
