Does this look like the right stuff? I can order a sample if y'all think it is close. But 3M calls it Rosewood.

It looks pretty dang close to me. Certainly would be good enough for restoration on old panels to keep them alive.

Ok. Sounds like yet-another project for me in FabLab. I'll order in a sample and if it compares closely with the Rosewood panels I have then, at some point, I'll draw the pieces up, order in a piece of it, and cut some out. Luckily our trucks have fairly simple interiors with mostly flat panels, and no compound curves - except on the horn pad. I'm not sure what to do there.

As far as the horn pad, how flexible is this vinyl? can't you take a rubber mallet or something like that and sort of form it and then adhere it?

The vinyl is pretty stretchy, so it won't take a hammer. I just don't know if it will adhere well if stretched thst much.

Other than drive it, I didn't do anything to my truck today. I was working on another Ford, this one needed some leaking transaxle seals replaced and to be set up for the snowblower.

Pretty good idea. It looks real close. I have seen both instrument and radio bezels with the rosewood in real good condition at a few of the yards around here. If anyone wants one I'll look for them the next time I go.

Yes, please do look. But, as we truly restore these trucks, and I'm spending a lot of money on Dad's, we will want really good bezels. So we need to find a way of replacing the wood grain. I'll order the sample tomorrow.

today

Hey,

Today I bought materials, some 5/16 rod, 1/2 plate and some clevis pins. Took some measurements to guide me along the path of smoother gear changing. I'm trying to get my stock pedal assy to mate with c20e top loader 3 speed. I had a hokey cable/pulley set up before but now it's time for more reliable operating.

Luv my truck

I like the idea. I was going to hand jam it, but that sounds WAY better. Although, I want walnut. I'm swapping the steering wheel to a walnut one down the line, and it would match so much better.

And I started the truck yesterday. I must do that more often, but it's hard with the cold. I spent all weekend swapping a head gasket on an 04 Cavalier. Never again unless I'm getting paid!

Started to pull the dash to help find my main cab leak. Discovered I am missing pieces that have fallen off over the years. Now I have to find a decent yard to try and get a complete one.

Critter - If I get the dimensions worked out then it won't matter what vinyl is used. I ordered the Rosewood sample today from these folks.

Put the vacuum advance back to ported on Sunday, readjusted the idle quality today and idle speed. Exhaust smells cleaner at idle now.
