Matthew - That's the spirit.

Shaun - Just make sure you protect the wiring where it goes through openings in sheet metal, solder all the joints, and use heat-shrink tubing on them - preferably the glue-lined tubing.

I'd trust my truck WAY more over my moms car or anything else we have. Mine has all the new parts

Although, I'd like a nicer riding pair of tires, softer shocks and a new steering box before I'd make a trip like that.

LOL.
I didn't even realize it was in the pic.
I had it on the lid of the toolbox, since it was rather uncomfortable to lay on while working under the dash. Had to open the lid to put something in, and that was a convenient place to set it. I just forgot it was there when I snapped that last pic, just before heading back home.

But yeah, I do tend to keep the .45 handy, while working alone at the shop. It's a bit more convincing than the .380 in the office, not to mention closer......

I'm a fan of the big bores myself. I have a Rock 1911. I'm hoping my wife gets this job she's interviewing for today and does well. If her first check is enough, I'll see to it she has her sidearm and CCW class.

As to what has been done to the truck, all I did was brag on it a bit.

Big bore and JHP rounds are the way to go, in my opinion.

I plan to get my CCW license soon. Moving to a different house in the next couple weeks, or I would have already sent off for it.

This is going to turn into a CCW thread???
P12 with the 200gr Speer 'flying ashtray's'
I also have a Sig P220 in .45 with Novak low carry Trigicon's.

For real (Colt) 1911's I only have a pair of Delta Elite's.
The original 170gr. Norma's are magic in that gun.

As for what I've done to my truck.
I folded the tailgate in half.
The only spare I have is one of those Chinese tinfoil copies.
Ordered a DeeZee full coverage diamondplate protector and shot it full of foam between the skins to try and stiffen it up.

I will miss the embossed logo.
Guess I should order a set of the (expensive) vinyl letters for it.

How did you fold it in half? Or, is that too painful to recall?

I was wondering the same thing.....

My original tailgate has been trying to rip apart since before I bought the truck. Gonna try to close up all the gaps, and reweld where the factory spot welds popped apart......

I have two Knaack boxes in my bed.
I slide them out and onto sawhorses when I need the whole bed.
The weight folded -and tore- both the gate and the diamondplate lip.

You have a Knaack for it, that's for sure.

Sorry to hear about your tailgate Jim. As for weapons choices, I have a Colt M1991A1 and a Kel-Tec (Glock copy) .40 I use hollow points in both, but the Colt doesn't always feed them well.

Bill,
I'm not sure what bullet you're trying to use in the 1911, but throating and polishing the hood your Colt or bending the lips of the mag should fix any problem with failure to feed.
These things come from the factory set up for 230g ball.
