I have had all the parts and paint for over a year.
I know I've asked this before, but forgot. But how many miles do you really have on that thing? I know it's over 300K, I remember that. What ever happened after you re did the rear fender wells?

It is pushing 400k now.
I only did the passenger side before running into winter last year.
Shot it with epoxy DTM and the spare hood and fenders too.
I did a hack color coat on that side of the bed, just to make it look less of the beater.

I'd drive it with pride, honestly.

All the plastic vacuum lines "fell off" today. Eliminated a lot of stuff. My 86 F250 351W C6 4.10 gears is just a pup at 207000+ miles compared to Jim's . I think it's living on "borrowed time"....

Mine appeared to get a new engine and the rear differental rebuilt at 200,000 miles. Transmission is the only old part of the drive train left at 232,000.

My truck made it to 189,000 or 289,000 by about 2003 when I suspect it was parked. That was the last time it ever ran on the street. Later found out that the 300 had been rebuilt previously when I found Clevite bearings in it.

Never really considered that this truck has been off of the road for over ten years.

I've only had it for six of those years.

Progress is slow, but there is progress. I told myself that I would like to have it done by the 10 year anniversary. That gives me 3-1/2 more years.

Joined the 3G club tonight.

Nobody ever said anything about potentially needing a shorter belt though! the mounting was about 1/8" longer than the 2G, so I had to ditch that STUPID L bracket support piece for the bottom bracket, does just fine without it and it is much easier to tighten that bolt down there. It also came with a 11MM tapped bolt hole. We have tons of old metric bolts, turns out the first one I picked up was perfect. So I'm good there. Wired it all up, started it. First try everything works, no smoke. The serpentine pulley that came with the alternator was bent a bit. Not using that anyways. Luckily with the belt we had used but good belts from our Dodge van, used the power steering belt and it is just a hair shorter. But works for now until I get a shorter belt.

Also put the tailgate on tonight.

Not sure what the deal is there, I had to push the bottom bracket down so it would line up, changing the geometry of it a little. The belt I used is tight, no squealing on start up. Holds 14.3 volts at idle (from looking at the analogue gauge, will check tomorrow with a volt meter at the battery) I'll have to measure and buy a shorter belt. When I turn everything on except the wipers, it holds what looks to be 13.8 volts at idle to 2000 RPM. Nice and steady. Dash lights don't dim anymore at idle, even with everything on.

Believe me, you will learn to appreciate the 130A 3G in the dead of winter; flashers on, headlights on, blower on high for hours on end and the gauges sit rock steady.

I'm glad to see it worked out for you!

Tell us how it goes in a week or so (if you get to drive the truck)
