Peeling the onion. It is good and fun, but rarely ever done. Just enjoy the ride.

As for what I've done to or with the truck, nada. Oh, wait! I leaned the broom against it while I swept up the stuff I got off the floor. Does that count?

Same. I looked at mine but that was it. I think next week I'll go to the junkyard and grab another driver's side door glass because the one I bought for it years ago is from an 87-96. I had no idea back then that the 80-86 trucks have a bigger window and different vent windows.

I need the vent windows as well since mine are crusty, so I might pick those up too.

I'm investigating the door panels to get an idea of what will be needed in that area. Short answer is new doors. PO has torn up the speaker mount areas to fit 6x9 speakers. It was very poorly done. I know LMC has new shells, but any ideas what it should run from a junkyard? Replacement door panels and map pockets are a must. Probably wind up redoing both doors completely. Pics will follow later.

Still need to acquire the ARP head bolts and Flowtech header gasket before I attack the leaking head.

Critter - I'm not sure I understand. Is the question the price of doors themselves from a salvage? If so, I think from $35 - 50/door is what I've heard and seen.

What I did to my truck today? painted half of it!

I only got one mess up in the blue on the top of the cab, bumped the air line on the top and filled it in after I had sprayed the final coat on the roof, and some ran down the back. Should be able to wet sand that out and buff it just fine. As far as the tailgate, it looks really good. Looked flawless on the first coat, but the plastic I was using flipped up on it and messed it up a bit. I was able to save it and it looks very good, now to see those marks the plastic made, you'd have to be eagle eyeing it really good. With your face 6" from the tailgate. They just look like small sand scratches. Overall, turned out really good. Just have to do the blue on the tailgate in the morning. For anyone who cares, I used a $10 harbor freight HVLP gun and Sherwin Williams single stage urethane paint, their Dimension line.

I hope the yards around here run that price. I don't want to have to spend what LMC wants for door shells.

Just looked at my junkyard price list for my favorite junkyard here in Florida, and they charge $50 for doors.

And that worries me in your case because they aren't a chain junkyard like Pick N Pull, LKQ, or Pull A Part, which usually charge more.

On a positive note, I finally got around to installing a new breather on the valve covers Shaun sent me. Thinking a new PCV cap and air cleaner will make it look nice. One thing at a time.

I fixed Whitey's split bench seat. Now the backs of the seats tilt forward again.

Nada. Drove it out to the lake showing Mr. Clean around. Rusty runs well anymore, but doesn't drive nearly as well as David's truck. His may not have the power but it sure drives nicely. Feels newish and nimble.

Definitely looks better all one color and matching now! it's not a perfect job, but certainly good enough. Any imperfections, you have to eagle eye them and be very close to see them, and know what to look for. All the prep work paid off.

Matt all you have to do now is paint those letters on the gate and have the whole thing clear coated.

Not going to clear coat it, it's just single stage paint like the rest of the factory paint on the truck is. As far as painting the letters, I'm going to do that in the spring, for a short project. Or just buy the decal kit for it. I have a lot of other things to work on around here that have been breaking down lately, this truck is needed for transportation right now. I haven't been able to drive it in a week and a half, I get my new 3G alternator tomorrow from UPS. Finally, I've needed the truck 3 times. But, the letters will be painted at some point.
